Dear Governor General Simon, I am deeply concerned about the economic crisis that our current government is blundering into. Despite the temporary reprieve from President Trump's proposed tariffs, Canadians could likely still be hit by them within weeks. Hundreds of thousands of Canadians could lose their jobs, and millions more will face unaffordable price hikes. And yet, Parliament is prorogued, and even when it comes back in late March we will only have an interim Prime Minister with no mandate from the Canadian public. Given the seriousness of this situation, I urge you to recall Parliament immediately so that Members of Parliament can debate this critical issue and hold a confidence vote in the current government. All major opposition parties, representing the majority of seats in the House of Commons, are united on the need for new elections. It is imperative that Canadians are given the opportunity to immediately elect a new government with a strong mandate -- one that is effective & equipped to negotiate with the United States on matters of trade and border defence. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. (This message has been cc'ed to my MP.)
